The most non violent creatures on earth are the turkeys at Christmas in Jerusalem and the sheep at Eid in Mecca.
Please note that such non violence as was seen in crushed Hindustan, where slavery was, and is, the normal way of life, was the last alternative for the wretched HINDU/SIKH SLAVES while the TERRIBLE "TALIBAN" RULED OVERHEAD.
Many of us now live in FREE West and see the priceless value of non violence in the OTHER worlds. Here it is "five teeth for one tooth", as you see from United States' action in Afghanistan.
As a result even the Sikh shopkeepers are going back to Kabul now while all the Gandhian magpies in Bharat are singing praises of non violence.
Steve Biko in South Africa was another budding Mahatma Gandhi but it did not suit his Imperial Masters to let him live on. He was killed while Gandhi was released from the same prions. Why?
South Africa was NOT meant to be left fragmented and bleeding, and in chaos, as they planned for Hindustan.

Coming to your line above, "Sikhs were the pioneers ..." please cast an eye on the Sikh lands West of Wagah.
We do not even wish to recall that Shaheed Bhagat Singh died for PAKISTAN.
How? He was hanged to death in Lahore. The soil that he made SACRED by his blood did, indeed, go to a country with the word "PAK" (sacred) in it.
That soil of LAHORE where Bhagat Singh was hanged to death for FREEDOM AND SECULARISM (AKHAND BHARAT), and where on the banks of River Ravi many verses of the Adi Granth were composed, was too sacred and noble to fall in Gandhi's filthy Bharat. Was it a Divine Hand that took LAHORE out of despicable BROKEN BHARAT as a punishment to all our top Hindu stalwarts? Who knows God's mysterious ways?
We shall see some originality among the Indians when we see ONE (just one) film from Bollywood (where KHAN Bros. rule supreme) on our TEN Gurus for every five being produced on Bhagat Singh just because treacherous Congress Party can use him as a tool, and fool the whole nation, not only the Sikhs.
How do the other nations honour their RELIGIOUS figures? Here are the names of some roads in the city centre at Northampton, a large country town in mid England:

ST. PETER'S WAY
(And that is just the town centre.)
Those INDIANS who are lucky to have succeeded in arriving on the free shores of America and Europe, can see all round such RELIGIOUS names given to roads, parks, schools and public buildings. What a contrast with Congress Coolie Colony of India where Gandhi and Nehru dominate with such irritating high visibility. THAT IS CERTAINLY THE WORST FORM OF VIOLENCE.
There would be a civil war if the name of New Delhi's International Airport was changed to "MAHARANI JHANSI" or "GURU TEGH BAHADUR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT". That is the kind of "muck" the Indians are living in, in their own coutnry that they regard independent.
This is the world of the FREE and those who, like the LIONS, are committed to their RELIGION. Now let us have a town in EAST Punjab, in the CRUSHED AND TERRIFIED world of non violence, with at least three roads named after two of the TEN Gurus.
If one calls that moral and spiritual superiority where "the Sikhs are the pioneers," then it is YOUR choice.
Good luck to all the non violent HINDUS AND SIKHS, the staple food of the Muslim tigers in WEST Punjab, EAST Bengal and SOUTH Kashmir, and to the Indians' "top hen" SONIA.
