I often wonder as to why there is NO day to commemorate the Sikh genocide of West Punjab in 1947.
The whole districts were ethnically cleansed and there was unprecedented suffering and loss of LIFE, land and property. At the same time Asia's worst ever human migration ("HIJRAT") was under way. Compare this to the "hijrat" of Hazrat Mohammed with a few followers, from Mecca to Medina, of which SO MUCH is made. Even the Islamic Calender (Hijri) starts from that date.
A million families were uprooted from their homes and thrown on to alien soil. Many had to start the struggle of life from the stage of abject dependence and begging.
There is also a note of pride at the manner in which millions managed to stand up on their own feet. Just look at the Palestinians, refugees and burden on UNO till today. That, too, could be CELEBRATED to show the world the unbroken spirit of Sikhs.
In this regard of AMNESIA and forgetfulness, are we in company with the HINDUS who call the unconditional surrender of five provinces on one day, their country's WORST EVER defeat, simply "Independence" and sing and dance to please the ghost of Barrister ("Bandit") Nehru who BETRAYED the nation and made a FOOL of us all?
Would SGPC or the man on Union Territory like to explain to the world, especially to the Sikh Panth?
It was Independence ONLY for the Indian Muslims, who could create a SOVEREIGN Islamic republic on one day without firing a pistol, and for barrister Nehru's family who established themselves in high POLITICAL chairs for ever. What about the whole nation, including the State of Jammu and Kashmir, and especially our glorious Panth?
We propose that August 15 be declared a BLACK DAY in the history of India, not only of the Sikhs. This will also give a stick up the Hindu nation for the simple reason that if they collapse again, the Sikhs will vanish too, exactly in the manner of West Punjab.
This is the moment in history God has given us to do the honourable thing with regard to death and destruction at PARTITION.
