VALE OF KASHMIR ON FIRE.
Date: 26 Jun 2008
Anti-Hindu protests spread in Valley, two killed
Mufti rejects Azad's call for all-party meet
Even as Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad called for an all-party meet to sort out land transfer to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), thousands of people held protest demonstrations in capital Srinagar and several major towns of the Valley on the third consecutive day reminding the anti-India demonstrations of early 1990s. Two persons, including a teenager, died in police firing in Srinagar and central district Budgam when police resorted to quell protest demonstrations. Scores of persons have been injured in pitched battles with the police and para-military, who virtually failed to control the tempestuous mobs.
