Northampton KFC goes Halal \\\\\\\\\\Posted on July 9, 2010 by A PATRIOT in Northamptonshire, UK: The KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) drive-through at St James Retail Park, Towcester Road, Northamption, has become the first KFC outlet in Northamptonshire to become HALAL ONLY. \\\\\\\\\This means that the meat from chickens slaughtered in accordance with Muslim law (which means they have their throats slit without being stunned while a highly trained immigrant recites verses out of the Koran). \\\\\\\\\\\\\The take-away has also taken away the bacon, a key ingredient in its Big Daddy burger. \\\\\\\\\\\\Restaurant manager Azhar Hussain is coincidentally a Muslim, but obviously not a devout one as he has been selling non-halal meat and Bacon since he acquired the greasy take away establishment. \\\\\\\\\\\He, said: “I think this is a good thing in these days where there are so many Muslims across the country. \\\\\\\\\\ Even when you go to Tesco they have separate sections for halal food.” \\\\\\\\\\\Not in my local Tesco they do not! There are an estimated 10,000 Muslims living in Northamptonshire although KFC said it did not take these figures into account. \\\\\\\\\\A spokesman for KFC said: “The decision was based on customer feedback rather than how many Muslims live in Northamptonshire. It is also a business decision as the expectation is we will get more Muslim customers and that would have an impact on sales.” \\\\\\\\\\\Hopefully they will see a bigger impact from non-muslim customers deciding not to go there anymore.
