Comment \\\\\\\\\\ Tonight's (April 1, 2011) lead story is a riot and massacre in Afghanistan in which at least eight foreign U.N. workers were killed, two of them beheaded, together with at least five Afghans in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif. \\\\\\\\ The demonstrations started as anger spread in Afghanistan at the burning of the Koran on March 20th by American preachers Terry Jones and Wayne Sapp. \\\\\\\\\\\ Protesters came onto the streets after Friday prayers, attacked the UN compound and climbed on the barriers to enter the compound. \\\\\\\\\\\ Demonstrators marched through western Herat and parts of Kabul too, but there was no violence at either protest. \\\\\\\\\\ The US State Department did condemn the action this week. Jones has already been out denying any responsibility for the violence, or that his actions were a provocation - claiming the response shows the difference between Christians and Muslims. \\\\\\\\\\\ At least eight UN staff killed 'over Koran burning' ================== 000000000
