Dr. Manmohan Singh has failed to leverage Historic opportunity: Lok Satta Party
Lok Satta Party national President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has indulged in a self-serving exercise without any deep introspection expected of a great leader.
Commenting on the Prime Minister’s interaction with media earlier in the day, Dr. JP said Dr. Manmohan Singh has undoubtedly failed to leverage the great opportunity presented to him for the first time after 1971. The 1984 election held after Mrs. Indira Gandhi’s assassination and which witnessed Rajiv Gandhi coming to power was an aberration in that it brought into play people’s primordial loyalties.
The Prime Minister failed to utilize the historic opportunity presented to him in 2004 and 2009 to give a direction to the nation.
“No one questions Dr. Manmohan Singh’s personal intentions or integrity. Personal honesty is a minimum requirement but not the maximum qualification for a Prime Minister. When you lead a complex country like India the Prime Minister has to be more than a symbol of reconciliation.”
Dr. JP said the Congress as well as all other partiers have to introspect why there has been a diconnect between them and people, especially the younger generation.
