Jolie demands UK action on mass rapists of Isil
Angeline Jolie has appeared before a Lords Committee to call for a response against Isil over the use of mass rape as “a centrepoint of their terror.”
The Hollywood actress and UN special envoy joined William Hague, the former foreign secretary, as a co-founder of the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative, which campaigns for the victims of the rape in war zones.
“The most aggressive terrorist group in the world knows that it is a very effective weapon and are using it as a centrepoint of their terror and a way of destroying communities and families,” Jolie said. “This is beyond something we have seen before… We have to have a very strong response.”
